4 Reasons Why You Should Pre-Schedule Your Content

When juggling social media among all your other ventures, it can sometimes start to feel overwhelming. This is why planning ahead can help you stay organized and keep your sanity in check.

Here’s our list of 4 reasons why you should be pre-scheduling all your awesome content:

#1 Allows for consistency

And consistency is key! Your social media feed is one of the first things a new visitor sees when they visit your profile and it’s no secret that first impressions are key. You should strongly be considering what you want your followers to see. Pre-planning your aesthetic will help to keep your brand recognizable and memorable. Whatever aesthetic you choose, make sure it represents your brand and the audience you’re trying to reach.

However, consistency is not just about the aesthetic, it’s also about time. Social media is also incredibly fast paced and trends can go as fast as they came. Posting regularly is essential. You want your messages to make an impact and stay in the spotlight to increase your memorability with your audience. On the flip side, don’t post too much! You don’t want to overwhelm your followers and clog their feeds - this can lead to unfollows and blocking.

At Gabby Girl, we recommend that you post a minimum of once per day, three times a week, and by pre-scheduling your content, you’ll know exactly what your feed is going to look like.

#2 Helps improve engagement

By scheduling, you can create that consistent content which can lead to more engagement. Your followers will begin to catch on to your schedule. When they expect you to post, they’re going to interact and engage with your content.

Engagement levels also depend on when you’re posting, not just what you’re posting. By scheduling in advance, you can choose when your content will be published and avoid missing those key moments because something else came up. It’s important to publish that content when your audience is most active, which in turn, will increase engagement. Having constant, pre-scheduled content will also keep your posts at the top of the newsfeed. When your followers see your post first, they’re more likely to engage with your post.

It’s the circle of engagement: higher engagement levels lead to increased visibility, which leads to more engagement, which leads to increased visibility. Got it? Great!

#3 Leaves you time for other projects

If you’re still taking time to manually write up a post at the time of posting and post it individually across all your platforms, you’re spending a lot of valuable time that could be put towards your other precious projects.

By dedicating time (as little as 20 minutes) at the beginning of each week to pre-plan and pre-schedule your posts, you’ll better manage your time and set yourself up for success for the remainder of your week. You won’t be left worrying about publishing quality content for your audience and possibly forgetting to post because, hey, - things come up and we get busy.

#4 Can give you some downtime

We hear you, we feel you, and we’ll say it loud for the people in the back… SOCIAL MEDIA CAN BE EXHAUSTING. The internet never sleeps. It doesn’t turn off it’s lights at 7pm or lock it’s doors on Sunday. Taking a break from your phone and from social media is not just beneficial, but it is essential for your mental health and wellbeing. The constant 'bzzz' of a notification, a message from a customer at 1:00am or a negative comment can become stressful and draining. If you pre-schedule, you don’t need to worry about what today's post is going to be and you can give yourself some much self care and rest time.

These are just a handful of reasons why you should incorporate pre-scheduling into your marketing and social media strategy. In a nutshell, you can spend less time worrying about your social media and more time crushing your business goals!
